On June 16, 2026, CAFIID convened practitioners from across impact investing, development finance and ecosystem building to explore how artificial intelligence is being used in the sector today. Featuring a moderated discussion with Michelle Baldwin, Co-Executive Director of Impact United Academy, and Tony Guo, Portfolio & Investment Selection Principal at Unreasonable Group, alongside facilitated breakout discussions, the session examined practical applications of AI across research, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, communications, financial analysis and impact measurement. Participants also explored the challenges accompanying greater AI adoption, including data governance, cybersecurity, bias, equity and the need to preserve human judgment. The conversation highlighted the growing need for practical organizational guidance, strong human oversight and continued spaces for shared learning as AI becomes increasingly embedded in impact investing and development finance workflows.
