Community-based care organizations in Latin America

Kore Global, in partnership with CoreWoman and supported by Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), is excited to launch a new landscaping report that sheds light on the critical role of community-based care organizations in Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay.
These organizations are not just filling gaps; they are the foundational infrastructure for care services in marginalized and underserved populations, often operating where state systems are absent or fragmented. The study highlights that volunteerism and unpaid community support are core operating mechanisms, with women disproportionately bearing the burden of care work. To address these challenges and strengthen the care ecosystem, the report recommends a paradigm shift from episodic funding to sustained investment, institutionalised partnerships, and shared governance.
