CAFIID is a global network advancing impact investing in emerging markets. We convene investors, ecosystem actors, and partners to support more inclusive and sustainable financial systems. With new multi-country programming launching, CAFIID is entering a period of strategic growth and operational expansion.
Role Overview
The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of CAFIID, including the administration of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) project funds and broader organizational finances. This role ensures strong financial controls, compliance with donor requirements, and accurate reporting to support effective project delivery and organizational sustainability.
The Finance Manager will work closely with the Project Director, Project Manager, and CAFIID leadership, and will report to the Treasurer.
Key Responsibilities
1. GAC Project Financial Management
Lead financial management of GAC-funded projects, ensuring full compliance with contribution agreements and GAC policies
Develop and maintain detailed project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
Track expenditures against budget lines and eligible cost categories
Prepare financial reports and claims for submission to GAC, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Support audits and financial reviews, including documentation and audit trails
Ensure proper allocation of costs (direct vs. indirect) and cost-share tracking (cash and in-kind)
2. Organizational Financial Management
Oversee CAFIID’s overall financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Maintain financial records, general ledger, and accounting systems
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for management and the Board
Support annual financial statements and external audits
Manage cash flow and ensure financial sustainability
Manage payroll and human resource matters
Ensure all accounts are reconciled monthly
3. Grants, Contracts, and Partner Financial Oversight
Support financial management of agreements with subcontractors and partners (including international partners)
Review partner budgets, financial reports, and disbursement requests
Ensure compliance with contractual and donor financial requirements
Establish and maintain financial controls and guidance for partners where needed
4. Compliance and Controls
Ensure adherence to CAFIID financial policies and procedures
Strengthen and implement internal controls, including procurement and expense management processes
Ensure compliance with donor requirements (particularly GAC), including eligibility of costs, documentation standards, and audit readiness
Support development and implementation of financial and risk management policies
5. Board and Stakeholder Reporting
Provide regular financial updates to the Treasurer and Board of Directors
Support financial reporting for Annual General Meetings and donor communications
Contribute to financial inputs for proposals and new funding opportunities
Qualifications & Experience
Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) preferred
2-5+ years of experience in financial management, ideally in the non-profit, international development, or impact investing sectors
Demonstrated experience managing donor-funded projects, preferably with Global Affairs Canada (GAC)
Strong understanding of grant compliance, eligible costing, and audit requirements
Experience working with multi-country projects and/or international partners is an asset
Proficiency in financial management systems, Quickbooks and Excel
