We will be joined by Rebecca Calder and Emily Boost from Kore Global, who are leading action research on the IDRC supported Transforming the Care Economy through Impact Investing program (which has been featured as a CAFIID case study here).

As part of this initiative, a recent paper “The Care Economy: Where gender-smart and climate-smart investment meet”  by Kore Global shows that, despite growing awareness of the interrelated nature of care and climate, investors lack the tools to assess businesses operating at this intersection. While "gender-smart" and "climate-smart" strategies have successfully targeted specific areas, they may overlook businesses addressing these issues simultaneously. Adopting an integrated care, climate, and gender analysis in investment processes and decision-making can help stakeholders maximize their impact, leading to more diverse and meaningful social and environmental outcomes.

In our next CAFIID GLI CoP meeting, Rebecca will be sharing a “work-in-progress” measurement rubric, which is being designed to support investors, fund managers, and businesses in applying an integrated lens to their investments and activities. It offers a conceptual framework and data collection strategy to assess how well businesses are achieving the interconnected goals of reducing unpaid care work and enhancing climate resilience, as well as working towards other gender-related outcomes in line with 2X Criteria. Kore Global and IDRC are hoping that this rubric will serve as a valuable resource for identifying areas where investors can support investee businesses to deepen their impact across these dimensions.

NOTE: This event is for current CAFIID members and invited guests. If you're interested in becoming a member, join here.
