Caroline’s passion for International Development was ignited while on a medical project to the Dominican Republic with her family when she was a teenager. The experience inspired her to study International Development at the University of Guelph where she learned of microfinance. Motivated and determined to work in the field, Caroline received an International MBA from the Schulich School of Business with a focus on Latin America. She became a commercial banker to further prepare for working in the sector and was then hired as Opportunity International Canada’s first Program Director.

Caroline stepped away from international work to spend more time with her young children and worked with Prosper Canada, a charity focussed on financially empowering people living on a low income in Canada. She also started her own business, Cent$ible Students, teaching financial literacy to elementary students and facilitated education sessions for members of Manulife’s Group Retirement Plans.

Caroline has now returned to the field of microfinance as a Director of Philanthropy for Opportunity International Canada. She is committed to the vision of a world in which all people have the opportunity to achieve a life free from poverty, with dignity and purpose.
