What impact has your recent work led to that you are most proud of?
Our focus at Astarte Capital Partners is on providing institutional investors with access to sustainable real asset strategies that align with macroeconomic trends shaping the economy. Our recent launch of a sustainable forestry investment platform in South America highlights the type of work we’re doing:

The SA Impact Forestry Fund (SAIFF), which we launched in partnership with Silvipar AB, invests in sustainable, fully-FSC certified forests in Paraguay, delivering excellent returns both in terms of economics as well as impact. SAIFF’s local operation employs a large workforce from the local community. The strategy has received strong institutional support from global investors, including environment agencies, DFIs, pension funds, consultants, and impact investors. SAIFF has been nominated for several ESG awards and was presented as a case study of best impact investment practices at COP26 in Glasgow.

What challenges and barriers are you working on addressing?
We identify specialist areas within macroeconomic themes that are often difficult for institutional investors to access due to scale or complexity. These include areas such as aging population, the need for water and food, clean energy, waste management, smart infrastructure, and efficient use and allocation of natural resources.

We have also created a new segment of the GP stakes market by backing and developing experienced emerging managers and operating teams with deep real asset expertise. Through this, we help to build and institutionalize the next generation of sustainable asset managers.

How does your mission align with CAFIID's vision, and what are you looking forward to in the coming months?
Our investment platform provides institutional investors with access to sustainable real asset strategies that generate strong economic and impact returns. This is very much aligned with CAFIID's vision of creating positive social and environmental impact alongside financial returns for investors.

After the success of our first flagship fund, we are actively working on the next one, which will focus on natural capital and infrastructure. We have an active pipeline of investments, and there is no shortage of themes to explore. We are excited to continue our partnerships and work towards creating real asset strategies that have a positive impact.
